The chart is a comparison of Paula Deen's food plate versus the health department's choose my plate. Paula Deen's food plate includes a large portion of sweets in her chart thus making less space for fruits. Proteins form a large share of the palte leaving only a tiny space for grains and vegetables. Dairy products are hardly a part of the food and the amount of empty calories derived from the simple sugars is a huge number.
In contrast choose my plate suggests 50% allocation to fruits and vegetables. The remaining 50% must be from proteins and grains. Grains must be as far as possible whole grains. Proteins are to be derived from whole foods such as milk, eggs and lean meat. The rest of your food will consist of oils and minerals. These will form a minuscule part of your diet.
Further, Paula suggests sugary drinks to water and has not included physical activity for fitness.
