The winter Olympics, 2014 will be held in Sochi, Russia.
The IOC has added 3 new categories to the program. They are in the skiing section of the event.
The new categories of the skiing events are: slope style in snowboard, slope style in freestyle and snowboard parallel slalom. As a result the total number of medals to be awarded goes up by 98 in this event.
Slope style snowboarding involves an obstacle course completion whereas in the slalom event, two competitors race down in tandem on the same track.
Slope style in freestyle is the freestyle skiing event involving completion of the obstacle course by spinning, grinding and flipping movements.
