We still have pin ups at our rooms don’t we? They add up a unique feel to the room. But we are seeing these pin up posters from really long. Do we know the history of the pin ups?
They originated at the time of 1940’s. 1940’s is a decade of World War 2. Both the nations Europe and UK were on the verge of hate. One of most popular ways to rise to morale of these brave soldiers was by handing out pin-up photos of beautiful women as a way to remind them of what they were fighting for back home. These pictures were painted on planes and other types of aircraft during the war to lift their spirits and were seen as a good luck.
The pin-up images could be cut out of magazines or newspapers, or be from postcard or chromo-lithographs, and so on. Such photos often appear on calendars, which are meant to be pinned up anyway. Later, posters of pin-up girls were mass-produced and became an instant hit. As social standards changed, male subjects began to be featured in pin-ups also.
