What do Slack, Quora, Github, Pinterest, Stripe and Trello have in common? More than you think! These six companies are all tech unicorns that were founded in North America, and they even share common growth trajectories. Team week researched the history of each company to see some of their major growth milestones, and what we found was surprising.
For example, five of these six companies launched within a year of their founder first coming up with the idea. This quick path from idea to launch helped each company capture more of their respective markets.
All six companies raised massive amounts of funding, often within in the first three years of growth. They used this capital to grow their teams, improve their products, and market more aggressively, which lead to more growth.
As each company has matured, their paths have diverged. Two of the companies (Github and Trello) were acquired by larger corporations, while one company (Stripe) acquired another tech app, called Kickoff.
