Magic Lantern might sound like something out of a children’s fairy tale but in reality it is a name given to one of the most powerful surveillance tools, used by the FBI. Developed in 2002, the bureau has been using the software while investigating cases involving extortion, harassment and theft.
According to our infographic, Magic Lantern has support from renowned antivirus makers like Norton and McAfee, with only lesser known rivals, like F-Secure, looking to block its penetration.
