Canals are channels of waters which are man- made. They flow from in between a region and are used for a variety of purposes such as navigation, transport or conveyance etc. The concept of canals is pretty famous in the European countries/ regions most of which are known for their beautiful ambience. \
The varied canals may span varied lengths on region. Some canals may be longer than the others. There is a list of the longest canals in United Kingdom.
The Grand Union Canal which is located in England and runs for 461 kilometres is the longest stated canal in United Kingdom. The second and the third largest canal in UK go by the names Leeds & Liverpool Canal (Northern England) and the Grand Junction Canal (England) respectively.
The former runs for 229 kilometres and the later for 208km. Since the canals span length areas and are all water, bridges are built at regular intervals on the canals. The bridges are to help the people on foot to cross over the canals.
There other many other canals which are really long. Names of a few of these canals in UK are the Trent Mersey Canal (England), the Middle Level Navigations (England), the Kennet and Avon Canal (Southern England) and the Car Dyke (Lincolnshire) among many others.
