Learning Science through an inquiry based teaching is the best way to develop children interest for science and also improves their cognitive skills.
However many teachers hesitate to teach their students in this way, as they themselves did not learn it that way when they were students and also in their preparation of becoming teachers.
Inquiry Teaching allows students to pose questions and express curiosity of what they are learning. Inquiry begins with gathering information through applying human senses-seeing, hearing, touching, tasting and smelling. Inquiry encourages children to question, conduct research for genuine reasons, and make discoveries on their own.
The practice transforms the teacher into a learner with students, and students become teachers. It makes use of multiple ways of knowing and taking on new perspectives when exploring issues, content and questions.
