Library of Congress which is located in United States, Washington, DC is the largest library in the world as it is home to about 150 million items. The British Library is the second largest library in the world because it has close to 150 million items. It is located in Great Britain, London.
The third largest library in the world is the New York Public Library in United States, New York City because it has 53.1 million items in total. Russian State library, with its 44.4 million items is the 4th largest library in the world and is situated in Moscow, Russia.
National Library of Russia in Saint Petersburg, Russia has about 36.5 million items and is placed at the 5th spot of this list. National Diet library of Tokyo, Japan is the 6th largest library with about 35.6 million items in it.
Bibliotheque nationale de France is the 7th largest library in the entire world as it has about 31 million items in it. On the 8th position is the Royal Danish library, Copenhagen, Denmark which has 30.2 million items. National library of China is 9th on this list while the 10th place is taken by Library of Russian academy of Sciences in Russia.
