The second largest desert in the world is the Arctic desert which too is polar in nature and is spread over an area of 5300000 sq mi. This desert covers Alaska, Canada, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Russia and Sweden.
The Sahara desert which is a subtropical kind of a desert is the third largest desert in the world with an area of 3320000 sq mi. It covers Algeria, Egypt, Chad, Libya, Mali, Morocco etc.
The Arabian Desert too makes it to the list of the largest deserts in the world because it covers an area of 900000 sq mi. The next largest desert in the world is Gobi desert which extends over 500000 sq mi and is spread over China and Mongolia.
Kalahari Desert which is a subtropical kind of a desert is also one of the largest deserts in the world followed by Patagonian desert which spreads over 260000 sq mi. Great Victoria Desert which is located in Australia is yet another large desert that makes it to this list. Other large deserts are Syrian Desert and Great Basin desert.
