It was almost two decades ago that our world discovered the charms of the internet. Now after 18 years, it is believed that almost 2.2 Billion people are connected through the internet.
In Africa, though, the number of people online are far less than could have been anticipated with only 16% of its 1.1 Billion population online but it has been estimated that almost 845 of the African population who are not currently connected with be online in the next 4 years and the new generation of digital entrepreneurs have taken up the cause of launching the internet at every possible corner of the country.
Google by launching its Project Link, is onto installing a fibre-optic backbone that will radically improve connectivity in Africa thereby connecting it to the faced paced world of the internet.
