Shift workers are behind many businesses - big and small - and 90% of them feel like they contribute to the overall organization's success. Just like for many others, a lot has changed for them as well during the COVID-19 pandemic. Over two-thirds of shift workers are concerned about job security and many have seen a decrease in opportunities as well. Many shift workers in niches like retail and hospitality have lost their jobs during the harsh 2020, with pandemic hitting those niches the most.
Besides job security and opportunities to progress at work, a vast majority of shift workers think they deserve more respect and more than half of them would like advanced notices and better communication on shift scheduling and changes up front.
All these findings are from Deputy's survey among over 1400 shift workers from around the world. They shared their feelings and thoughts on the current situation in shift work and what they like and dislike. All trends and shift work statistics are gathered in the infographic below.
