In the year 1964, physicist Peter Higgs proposed the theory and mechanism of an elementary particle that would help in explaining why fundamental particles have mass even when those controlling them should actually require them to be massless as well as answering to the basic question of why electromagnetic force has a much longer range than weak force.
The propagation of this theory was considered quite monumental in scientific research giving it the name of the search for the God particle. This particle is considered to be the missing corner stone of physics and the finding of which would explain quite plainly the working of the universe.
