Parking tickets can be a financial burden to American travelers, even if the revenue from those tickets is meant to fund transportation projects such as crumbling roads and bridges. But which cities’ residents are feeling the financial burden of parking tickets the most? This infographic from TopView shares the total parking ticket revenue made by 25 major U.S. cities, and also ranks them based on that revenue per capita.
Baltimore, MD may not be the city you expected to see in the top spot but their $100.87 revenue per capita has earned that spot. It is closely followed by larger U.S. cities you’d expect to see at the top: San Francisco, Washington D.C., Chicago. Boston, and NYC.
The cities that ranked at the bottom included Phoenix, Nashville, Jacksonville, Memphis, and Dallas; with both Phoenix and Nashville’s parking ticket revenues per capita hitting below $1! Next time you’re visiting one of the top ranking cities, it may be less expensive to just call a taxi than to try and find a parking spot.
