The following infographic sheds some light on house cleaning and maid services statistics in the U.S. and abroad. Slightly more than half of Americans prefer to clean on a weekly basis, with women putting more emphasis on the importance of a clean home than men. It’s no surprise then that women spend an average of nearly thirteen thousand hours cleaning over the course of their lifetimes.
There are nearly 900,000 maids currently employed in the United States, with the largest employers being, Florida, Texas, California, New York, and Pennsylvania. Worldwide, there are 52 million people employed as domestic workers, over 21 million of whom are employed in Asia and the Pacific. Latin America and the Caribbean come in at a close second with nearly 20 million.
