Green Colleges

Colleges in the USA are now going green.

The choice of colleges to go green is their contribution towards social responsibility. Some of the ways they are doing this is by  investing in LEED - certified buildings that have inbuilt water saving programs,  compost receptacles and recycling receptacles around the campus.

They also invest in energy star applications, energy efficient lighting, local and organic foods through campus farming. They are encouraging use of bikes by providing bike paths and racks. They are also providing hybrid shuttles to navigate around the campus.

75% of the schools have staff to take care of sustainability issues and more than 50% have natural energy generating resources.Universities of Washington, California and Stanford are the top three green colleges in the USA.
