Global warming and carbon emissions are the most important environmental discussions of this millennium. This chart is a depiction of the top 5 global carbon emitters in the world in the year 2007. According to the survey it is seen that North America and North European countries rank the highest among the emitters.
This is followed by the developing and industrially active nations of the East and Far East. Australia is also among the top 15 high emission countries in the world. The Arab nations, North African and South American countries rank lowest in terms of emissions.
There is also another parameter to be observed. That is, are their emissions increasing or are they showing a downward trend owing to corrective measures. Of the countries listed, UK, Russia, Chile, France, Italy, Germany and Canada are the ones showing substantial decreasing trend in percentage emissions.
