It takes almost 200 viruses to cause the problem in the upper respiratory tract of humans, commonly termed as ‘common cold’. 40% of the colds are caused by a virus called the rhinovirus that enters the body when we breathe through either the nose or the mouth. It is easily spread only by being near someone who has caught a cold or by touching something that might carry the virus around.
In spite of the common belief that being in cold weather for too long might cause you to catch a cold, it has been found to be a pure myth since one is most likely to catch the virus when one is extremely fatigued or if one is suffering from allergies of the throat or the nose.
