In the recent list of Fortune 500, it has been noted that there are more women CEO this year than any year before this.
The number of women CEOs in this year list is 18 which was 10 in the year 2006. May be the number is not more but as a group they outperformed the market by 28%.
These women CEOs also topped their respective industries by 15%. Ranked at number 10 in the top paid CEOs list is Meg Whitman of HP whose compensation is $16.5 million. It is noteworthy that the average compensation of these CEOs is $10.8 million which is almost same as the Fortune 500 average.
And the average age of women CEOs is 55 years which is one year less than the average age of all the Fortune 500 CEOs.
