Organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) have spearheaded the effort in creating awareness to reduce drunk driving habits. Since its inception in 1980, their efforts have led to a 50% reduction in alcohol-related fatalities.
Despite this, drunk driving is the leading cause of non-medical casualties in the US. Therefore, we have a long way to go to eradicate this problem. In 2017 alone, over 10,000 people died in a drinking and driving-related car accidents.
This figure includes more than 200 children under age 14. To help eradicate drunk driving, we must continue to draw attention to its fatal effects on our society and uplift organizations such as MADD working within our communities to stop it once and for all.
In our new infographic, using the latest research and statistics, we highlight some of the scariest facts about drunk driving over the last few years. We hope that this will help spread awareness and discourage people from drinking and driving.
