There isn't ever a time when gun control isn't a hot topic in the United States. There are many Americans who believe that owning firearms is a right that is protected by the Second Amendment of the Constitution. However, does a state's gun control measures have anything to do with the gun violence in that particular state? From the Joslyn Law Firm, this infographic analyzes just that. The data used was able to show that the states with the highest firearm homicide rates in the country (along with their gun-friendliness scores) include Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, Illinois, Arkansas, and Georgia.
Louisiana tops the list with 11 deaths per every 100,000 people, per the data. The gun friendliness scores that are included within the data and on the infographic are based on the individual state laws, which include things like open carry rules, permit requirements, and background checks.
