Almost every book in classical literature describes certain kinds of homes that not only define its characters but are also responsible in taking the plot forward.
Be it in the Misselthwaite Manor in The Secret garden or the Bag End in The Hobbit, we find that these homes establish and define their owners's characters much before the book actually describes them.
The Bag End being a Hobbit hole, describes in detail how wealthy Bilbo Baggins is as well as how much he loves the tidiness and snugly comfort of his home. In 221B Baker Street, the owner is a much lover and revered detective, Sherlock Holmes whose house is full of peculiar and statge objects collected over the years from around the world where ever his cases might take him.
