
We all know how dangerous the habit of smoking is. So let us look at what the stats say about this habit. 1.1 billion smokers are there in the world. On an average 1,000 youths under 18 start smoking which is equivalent to the average high school population.
According to the data, 80% of youth smokers will smoke through their adulthood out of which 50% will die 13 years before their peers. 1 in every 5 pregnant women is a smoker. Cigarette smoke contains approx 4,800 chemicals including ammonia (toilet cleaner) resulting in a death in every 6.5 seconds.
People who die of murder are 20 times less than people who die because of tobacco. And 50,000 people who are not smokers but 2nd hand smokers die annually.
