The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix is a Formula 1 race that was announced in 2007 at the Abu Dhabi F1 festival in the United Arab Emirates. It was a free event when it was announced in 2007 and has the largest gathering of current Formula One cars and drivers outside of a Grand Prix. It was later announced that it has won the rights to host a Grand Prix from 2009 until 2016.
This year, support races included GP2 and GP# Series as well as the Porsche program that were held in the Oasis areas behind the Yas Marina Circuit grandstands.
Sebastian Vettel finished the race in 3rd position with Fernando Alonso finishing 2nd. The championship was won by Finnish driver Kimi Räikkönen, who won for the first time after his return to Formula One earlier in 2012.
