Ovarian cancer is a common type of cancer that occurs in women. It usually begins in the ovaries of women that produces hormones and there are three types of ovarian cancers that include Epithelial cancer, Germ cell and Stromal cell cancer.
Every year more than 21,000 women get affected by the ovarian cancer and 15,000 women die due to ovarian cancer. The symptoms that are helpful in detection of ovarian cancer are bloating, abnormal vaginal discharge, bleeding, back pain, pelvic pain and abdomen pain.
Ovarian cancer can be treated through three types of surgical procedures such as De- Bulking, unilateral salpingo-oophorectomy and bilateral salpingo – oophorectomy. Based on the extent level of the disease, treatment can be even offered through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Of total ovarian cancer patients, 90% suffer from Epithelial cancer, 5% suffer from Germ cell cancer and 5% are affected by stromal cell cancer.
