As we all know, the US technologically advanced country but at the same time the country is the worst air polluter in the world, responsible for one-fourth of all carbon dioxide emissions. Carbon dioxide emissions result from burning fossil fuels, such as gasoline, oil, natural gas, and coal.
The Natural Resource Defense Council (NRDC) released its annul 'Toxic Twenty' list, which ranks US states by their toxic air pollution. These twenty states account for 92% of the total toxic air pollution, 72% of electric sector mercury emissions. And contribute 50% of the total US economic output.
The state of Kentucky dominated all of the twenty states in toxic air pollution. However, carbon emissions can cause major health risks. For instance, air toxics from coal fired power plants can led to birth defects, respiratory illness, heart attack, cancer, nervous system damage etc.
