2014 saw the Winter Olympics being held in Sochi, Russian with overĀ 127 Million being spend on transportation infrastructure development alone.
The first winter Olympics, held in Chamonix, France saw Charles Jewtraw winning the gold medal for USA in 500m speed skating event held in January 1924 as well 16 nations and 258 athletes competing each other in 16 different events.
The last Winter Olympics held in 2010 in Vancouver, Canada saw over 5600 athletes completing for gold medals in 86 events.
The Biathlon that was first held in Chamonix, France, includes cross-country skiing and rifle shooting, has been added again this year for the 2014 Winter Olympics as well.
