UV rays are a part of electro magnetic radiation and these rays are invisible. They can cause several effects on human body if the individual is highly exposed to UV rays.
Ultra violet rays effect on the eyes depends on the intensity of the rays and if the person is exposed to high intensity UV rays, there is a great chance of getting attacked with different retina and eye related diseases.
Eyes are only sensitive tissues in the body that are directly exposed to the ultra violet rays and the damage made by UV rays on eyes is often cumulative and irreversible. Reports show that 5 – 10% of skin cancer are due to UV exposure and every year more than 40 million Americans fall victims for cataract affects.
Mostly our eyes will be exposed to UV rays for 365 days and 40% of UV exposure will occur when you are not under full sunlight. It is suggested to wear the UV protective glasses which helps in delaying the cataract affects.
