Storytelling is an art that has been handed down from one age to the other through oral transmission both vertically as well as horizontally moving from one generation to the other.
The first instance of storytelling can be found in the history of the cavemen who told each other stories for mystical rituals as well as before the group would move out for hunting. They shared these stories not just in the oral form but also drew them out using sign languages or the rock faces of their caves.
After that, when man started forming and learning languages they developed written scripts that helped them to write down these stories and after the printing press was invented, people would publish them to be read far and wide.
In this era of the internet, where the actual act of the storytelling is slowly losing its way and usage, stories are now being transmitted digitally from one to the other but the charm that listening to a story, sitting around a fire with family and friends has, will never go out of use since the personal and emotional touch they provide are missed even when every story is at our finger tips.
