The first evidence of lottery has been traced back to 200 BC in China to raise money for building the Great Wall.
Later between 29 BC and 14 D Caesar used a lottery system to build roads. 1567 was the year when the first lottery was introduced in England by Queen Elizabeth I.
In 1774 colonial America sanctioned 200 lotteries to finance the building of its most famous universities.. In 1820 lottery as a system is banned due to the corruption involved.
However, in 1964 the US sanctioned state lottery called sweepstakes. 1988 saw the birth of Lotto America which changed to Power Ball in 1992.
Today there are about 136 sanctioned lotteries worldwide bringing in $120 billion revenue every year. However, the odds of winning a Power Ball lottery or Jackpot is very high.
The year 1812 saw the birth of the world’s biggest lottery in Spain with a payout of $3.3 billion.
