Pakistan has several public and national holidays in the year 2013. Here they are for all those interested to know.
Eid Mild un-Nabi is the first holiday in 2013. It’s celebrated on 24 January. This is followed by the Kashmir Day that’s observed in 5 February. The Pakistan day is observed on 23 March. The Labor Day is observed on 1 May as elsewhere across the world. There are no holidays in the country in the month of June and July.
This year, 9, 10 and 11 August would be observed as the Eid-ul-Fitr. All school, colleges, government and private offices remain closed on these three days. It’s followed by the Independence Day on 14 August. While there are no holidays in September, there’s only the Eid ul-Azha on 15 October.
The birth anniversary of Muhammad Iqbal, a prominent national poet and author of the country, is celebrated on 9 November. The holy Ashura, an important religious festival is celebrated over two days on 13 and 14 November. There are no other holidays in November.
Qaid-e-Azam day would be observed on 25 December. Christmas will also be observed on the same day. It’s a major festival in the country. 26 December will be observed as the Day after Christmas.
