The summer Olympics 2012 has impacted the U.K. in many ways.
The country has to develop new infrastructure and improve the existing facilities.
When compared to the previous Olympics, from 2000 Sydney to 2012 London Olympics there has been significant improvement in ticket sales. For instance during Beijing Olympics in 2008, 7.0 million ticket were sold. But in London Olympics around 8.8 million tickets sold.
On the other hand, security system has been improved. 18,200 ground troops and more than 20,000 private guards are deployed. The road and rail transportation has been strengthened as massive passengers are expected to be using different modes of commutation.
Additional 500 staffs are to be engaged to ease congestion in immigration halls since an extra 650,000 passengers are expected to pass through the airports during Olympics.
Still, the passengers have had to wait 2-3 hours extra in immigration. UK Border agency recruits a pool of volunteers to ensure efficient border control process mainly during peak hours.
