While the highest life expectancy at birth is in Japan with overall rate of 82.6 years, the lowest life expectancy at birth is a major problem in Mozambique. With overall life expectancy of 39.2 years, it is the country which ranks 1 in this list of 10 countries with lowest life expectancy. Not only this, the life expectancy of both men and women is the lowest in the world.
Swaziland has the life expectancy of 39.6 on average which is not very different from Mozambique. Afghanistan, the only Asia country in this list, has the rate of 43.8 years and the rate of men life expectancy is almost same as of women.
The reason for these many African countries appearing in this list is the high rates of HIV/AIDS cases and high infant mortality rates.
