For all the lovers of cricket and Indian women cricket team we are here presenting the list of the India National Women’s cricket captains who have led the team until now:
As far as the Test Match captains of the India National women’s cricket team are concerned, 11 women have done the job for India. Shantha Rangaswamy was the test match captain from year 1976-84 and India played 12 matches under her captainship. India played 15 matches under the captainship of Shubhangi Kulkarni whereas Purnima Rao and Anjum Chopra led India in 3 test matches each.Mithali Raj was the captain from 2005-2006.
Talking of the One-day international captains for India, Diana Edulji did the job for India in 18 matches followed by Shantha Rangaswamy, Shubhangi Kulkarni, Purnima Rao, Pramila Bhatt, Chanderkanta Kaul, Anju Jain, Anjum Chopra, Mamta Maben, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and Rumeli Dhar. Out of these captains, the longest haul was for Anjum Chopra, Mithali Raj and Jhulan Goswami who led India in 28, 64 and 25 matches respectively.
All these three players have been the only T20 international captains of India as well and have captained India in 10, 5 and 17 matches respectively. Anjum Chopra is the current T20 international captain of the Indian Women’s cricket team.
