Every year, the International Indian Film Academy Awards often referred as IIFA awards are presented to felicitate the artistic and technical professionals who have excelled in Bollywood with their films.
This awards ceremony was instituted in the year 2000 and it is held at various countries across the world. This 14th edition of IIFA Awards was held at Macau, China. To celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema, IIFA has recorded a gala song and dance to pay tribute to the legends for their great contribution to the Indian Cinema.
The 14th set of IIFA Awards has kick started with presenting technical awards and the most of the awards under technical category were bagged by critics applauded ’Barfi’ movie. The ceremony was packed up with some thrilling and great performances by B-town Divas Madhuri Dixit and the legendary, Sridevi.
This grand event was co-hosted by the king khan Shahrukh khan and Shahid kapoor and it included power packed dance performances from Prabhudeva, Dia Mirza, Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Sonu Sood and Sophie Chowdhury.
Ranbir Kapoor received best actor award for portraying a mesmerizing character in the film ‘Barfi’ and for the same film, the veteran director ‘Anurag Basu’ has bagged the ‘best director’ and ‘best story writer’ award.
On other hand, Vidya Balan was presented with best actor female in a leading role for her character in the most enthralling movie, 'Kahani'. Alongside the film ‘Barfi’, even Vicky Donor’s hero Ayushmaan Khurana has bagged an award under the category ‘best actor male (debut)’ and Anuu Kapoor was facilitated with ‘best actor male in supporting role’ award.
