Religious conviction is not a phrase often connected with technology. Communication between spiritual organizations and their supporters has bloomed on social media. Many churches have turned to social networks to increase their outreach to spread their knowledge. More than 30% of church use to update on Facebook each day, while 15% said will never use the network. Social media is the most effective method of communication; while about 25% prefer the more traditional method like knocking on doors and telling the message 74% of churches do not have a paid staff member that updates their church social media pages.
Few organizations worked closely with churches to teach them how to effectively use social media and have developed Smartphone applications to assist missionaries in the field. The few agencies asked over 250 churches what social networks they used, how often and how effective they think their efforts are. 67% of churches make blog updates about 1-2 times a week. 33% of churches do blog updates more than three times a week.
