The guitar is a string instrument from the chordophone family constructed of wood and strung with either nylon or steel strings.
The English word guitar, the German Gitarre, and the French guitare were all adopted from the Spanish guitarra which originated from the latin word kitrara.
Before the development of the electric guitar and the use of synthetic materials, a guitar was defined as being an instrument having "a long, fretted neck, flat wooden soundboard, ribs, and a flat back, most often with in-curved sides"
The Electric guitar, born in late 1920’s, was different from the original guitar. Many commercial models were released after 1920’s model but Gilson’s model of guitar is considered the most famous. In later years, electric guitars underwent many innovations in terms of strings material, body shape, decorations, designs, weight as well as sound amplification.
