The use of e-readers has been steadily increasing over the last couple of years.
About a third of the Americans in have read e-books. Most of the users are in the age group of 18 - 49 years. Most of them say that they read to gain knowledge and information. Some site escapism and some others entertainment.
E- book readers are known to read more books. More number of e-book readers are also book buyers. The most popular e-book readers are Amazon's Kindle, Nook from Barnes and Noble and Sony's e-book reader. They are priced between $130 to $200 and have 7" screens.
People who do not own an e-readers say that the main reason they do not own one is because they do not need one. Others say that it is too pricey and some feel they have enough digital devices to deal with. While there are a few others who like to read from hard copies of their books.
