Imagine yourself driving your car. Now imagine doing it with your eyes closed. To all of us, that immediately sounds like a bad idea that has a very high chance of ending with severe consequences including collisions that can injure yourself, your passengers, other drivers, and pedestrians.
A texting driver will take their eyes off the road for about 5 seconds, and travel about 64 metres at 50km/h. As we all know, it takes an instant for something to go wrong on the road, but if we’re driving distracted, there’s no way to react in time.
