As the UK faces alterations to it’s no win, no fee legislation, the above graphic has been created by Express Solicitors, a UK law firm of fully accredited solicitors based in Manchester, in order to educate the British public about the truth behind the law change, and how it will affect claims in the future. The infographic demonstrates a typical case study, explaining what compensation claimants would have received before the change, and what they would now gain under the new legislation
The infographic, launched in line with the new Legal Aid Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act (LASPO), discloses the price people will now pay, as solicitors can no longer recover their costs from the other side and offer 100% of the compensation gained from a successful case.
Injured parties will get a 25% decrease in their compensation payout as a result of the new law, this is because solicitors must recover their costs from the compensation payout instead of from the other side. To make up for this decrease, total compensation amounts are to be increased by 10% - however the graphic above illustrates how this still means the claimant loses out from what they would have received before the law change.
