The Danish Speedway League or the Dansk Speedway Liga is the highest level of speedway competition in Denmark. The League conducts its matches between April and September to determine the winner of the league. The League consists of Grindsted, Slangerup, Holsted, Munkebo, Outrup, Fjelsted and Esberg. Each team has a home and an away match against the other teams in the league. By the end of the season all the teams have been pitted against each other.
The scoring for the league is fairly simple. Each team gets three points for a win, two for a draw and even one for a defeat. In addition to this, each team gets bonus points for aggregate wins. The requirement to race in a match is to have a minimum of two riders for your team, failing which the team withdraws. As a matter of fact, a team having less just two riders gets a penalty of one point.
The Danish Speedway League is not like the football league. Teams do not get relegated and incorporated at the end of every season. Instead the organizers of the League have the discretion to determine who joins and leaves the league.
