Duct tape, during the World War 2 was used to seal ammunition boxes since it was made out of waterproof material and could easily safeguard the gunpowder from getting spoilt.
In recent times though, there are a lot of ways in which this highly pressure sensitive waterproof tape could be used, and some even in life saving situations. For example, if someone has broken an ankle or a leg, duct tape could be used to used to stabilize it with a sprint material and some padding, tied together with duct tape.
During storms, a crisscrossed layering of the duct tape on your windows would give the panes a lot of support and will also prevent them from breaking due to the high wind lashes.
